Social Inclusion of People with Autism Spectrum Syndrome through Virtual Reality
Objective
The project ‘Social Inclusion of People with Autism Spectrum Syndrome through Virtual Reality’ (VRAA) aims to develop tools with the purpose of enhancing social inclusion of people with autism spectrum syndrome, using virtual reality. The tools will be developed by young people with autism.
Activities
In order to achieve this aim, the following activities will be conducted:
- A needs analysis will be conducted, using interviews of people with autism spectrum syndrome, their families, and professionals working with them
- Development of virtual reality tools, emulating real-life social situations, based on the conducted interviews.
- Training of professionals assisting people with autism spectrum syndrome in the use of said virtual reality tools
- Creation of a manual, intended to showcase good practices in the employment of people with autism spectrum syndrome
Partnership
The project is implemented in cooperation between:
- VIFIN, Denmark (coordinator)
- Pistes Solidaires, France
- London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Great Britain
- Wisamar Bildungsgesellschaft Gemeinnuetzige GmbH, Germany
- Synthesis Center for Research and Education, Cyprus
Financing
The project is supported by the EU program Erasmus+. It is implemented October 1st 2019 – August 31st 2021.
