QuaMMELOT
Objective
The purpose of QuaMMELOT (Qualification for Minor Migrants Education and Learning Open access – Online Teacher-training) is to gather knowledge and develop educational tools for the inclusion of newly arrived bilingual pupils in ordinary school classes.
The project aims specifically at teachers who are responsible for the task of integrating newly arrived bilingual pupils in upper primary and secondary school.
Activities
The project will develop eight open access on-line modules for teachers. These modules will contain both reading materials and training activities that teachers can test in class. Prior to the test period of the modules, the partners have gathered information on local conditions and gained an insight into the challenges of the participating teachers. After the test period, the modules will be evaluated and the partners will make a user guideline.
The project activities consist of:
- drawing up a report based on local conditions regarding the inclusion of newly arrived bilingual pupils and the law on refugees and integration in general
- conducting focus group interviews with the participating teachers
- developing eight online modules on the following themes: Legislation, Reception of newly arrived pupils, Relational communication, Language training, Active citizenship, Natural sciences, IT and Creative methods
- involving teachers working actively with inclusion and who will test the eight modules in class over a period of one year
- evaluating the modules in cooperation with teachers and pupils
- developing guidelines for future teachers
