Digital formativ sprogscreening på EUD (Digital formative language screening at VET Schools)
Objective:
The project aims to develop a digital language screening tool for technical/vocational training. It builds on, among others, VIFIN’s existing language screening tools (see here: (se her).
The new tool is envisioned to be easy to use, less time consuming, flexible, while manageable, relevant and action-oriented (formative).
Content
The Language screening tool is envisioned to be used during the start of vocational training. It is designed to identify both ethnic Danish pupils’ and bilingual students’ levels of language skills, and what is needed for them to be able to effectively participate in the classroom. This provides the necessary knowledge for planning the form, content and scope of training for the group.
Moreover, the language screening tool will be used in connection with VETs various trade focus, identifying educational challenges in relation to trade-related terms and concepts (gray area language) in relation to academic reading and writing. Initially, the tool will cover 4 out of a total of 12 trades. Standards will be set in developing the tool, such that simple tools developed can be easily replicated.
Finally, the project will develop models to follow up on the results of the language screening tool.
